Rope tangling on grcs

Can anyone aid me with a way to lower heavy stuff on the winch where you insure the rope doesn’t end up criss crossing itself during the lowering? 1/2” line, four wraps, pig tail used, it just sometimes does this and when it does it can be very stressful.

In order to avoid that from happening I emphasize not puting too many wraps on the GRCS. It seems to work.

When you use four wraps, and the rope jumps over itself, would two or three wraps have provided sufficient friction?

Pad the top of the mounting plate. Or cut the spar. You want the drum or bollard to be level or slight sloping downwards.

but don’t lower heavy stuff off the winch

We don't run more than 3 wraps when lowering, definitely have to have 4 or 5 when cranking up but when that's done, wraps are removed to the appropriate amount.

2-3 wraps are the options for heavier pieces, shit doesn't run right with any more, not to mention the rope hop on the bollard.....
