Rope runner MRS

I've always assumed that the RRP is less than ideal MRS until the other day when I played around with this configuration. A carabiner works well clipped directly under the pulley, a tether to the standing end connected to the main attachment plate that runs above the bird so it doesn't interfere. A quickie also works. The tending and operation is pretty awesome.

I played with my RRP in MRS one brief time with a mini paw on the bridge as the terminal rope attachment point. Found that the bollard adjustment was too tight at my SRS adjustment point. Haven't taken the time since to mess with it.

Why are you not tying the climbing line to the device? Is it too large?

The splice or knot can hold down the bird In that configuration.

Would a "big-eye" bowline work, with the knot away from the bird, as with a hitchclimber pulley on MRS?

This is great! Gets the gears turning. For the termination side i might try a quickie with my spliced eye. Shoud be short enough to not interfere with the bird (or so i think).

Hi, do you usually use a quickie instead of the stock main harness connection point?

No, but in mrs I use both, the stock connection point for the mrs termination side and the quickie or a biner to my harness. CT carabiners are the best

Kevin got me thinking with his hitch cord pictured above…Has anyone considered this sort of configuration? There maybe a tether more suitable for this set up, but this cleans up the bird action area and minimizes things to catch on. (Also, Kevin, I do like the alternate use of the stock connection point that you demonstrated in your photos above. I’ve been playing around with it.)

I did find in that configuration there is a bit more drag than clipping into the slot under the pulley. The way you have it in the picture it works, but there is always some clamping action at the pulley, even during ascent.
