Rope reviewing system

Talking to The Colin Bugg at the gym today we were questioning rope reviewing systems, such as the sherrill tree table. Both of us found this table to be highly variable in stretch percentages and actual size of the rope in hand. I have also noticed that some ropes when they are broken in lose some of there thickness. We also came to the conclusion that 'bounce' and 'stretch' are two different terms. Stretch refers to the static elongation of the rope, and bounce would refer to the rebound after we load the rope.

What are some of the questions you would like to see answered in a rope review? Has anybody ever done a comprehensive rope review?

Good questions.

You should research the CE standards for rope use. Depending on the application there are different standards. Gear is given a standard that has to be met in order to be certified.

I posted a similar question Waldo. I too think the Sherril rope chart is misleading. It would be helpful if someone would compile accurate measurements of rope stretch and bounce. It would make purchasing a rope a lot easier.
