rope kinks

I have always been a climber who uses several ropes,I love the fly but only break it out in the big trees because it is so much lighter.I have not noticed any fraying yet ,not to much burning except in my hitch,of course. There are many more posotive aspects than negative to this rope and with its popularity riseing I'm sure improvements are on the way.

Hopefully the splice will get easier for this rope too. Looking for a good performing hitch seems to be the only real quirk.

I ordered a short piece(120) to try it out. Getting both ends spliced too. All the hanks in bags are spliced on one end. I'm worried about slack between ends. This rope does have fair amount of slack in it. Buddy of mine got one at TCI and Lance from NE rope spliced it for him there. We milked it out before we coiled it. Good amount of twist and slack came from it. Overall it it feels good.

Roachy , I agree with you. I'm a firm beliver in using several ropes. Some are for conifirs only others for decurrent trees and then rec. climbing or compitetion. But I like my lines to have that furred up feel to them rather then the slick new feel.

I have four lines that I work from. The most current is the Flyline.I also use different hitches for different application too.

Although, flyline is a core dependent line, and not out sheath dependent like most 16 strands, the wear and tear we see on it , if any, is more of a visual problem for me . Unless of course the core is poking through, then you may have some problems. However, I climbed on it through some heavy barked trees to ruff it up a bit and work out some kinks before used it in my rings. This is probably what cause some of the fraying with out a doubt..

joe, I have used other friction savers and the twisting is not as bad as with the RG. It is spinning on both ends. Under the hitch is is real bad, If its a large tree with alot of up and down it is much worse. On occasion when I hit the ground and unclip the spice it uncoiles like a twisted cable under load. Under the same sercumstances with a 16 strand rope the spinning is apparent but not as bad.

I figured it out. I have been climbing the same size trees all winter 12"-20". Climbing that many small trees I was only using the same area of the rope. Today It got up to 25 degrees with no wind so I went to the park and rec climbed a couple large oaks. The spinning was very miniumal and I am now happy. When I go back to work I will use a pully ring FC. I did that today and the spinning was not too bad.
