Rope ID

Ah man I miss that rope :( I had 150 feet of it, but at around the 50-60ft point after the sewn eye...it got dragged across a galvanaized fence and there was a bunch of pretty terrible knicks/puffs for about 6-8ft. Had to cut it. It was a sad day.

Lucky you. I've bought 3 grab bags and haven't found anything that nice. Oh well, it's like the lottery. Ya gotta pay to play.

Gone through 4 bags bunches of that danged 5/16 hollow braid but have found a use for most of the other. Last bag had some 9/16 atlas 75’ of notch banshee 40’ of arbor master blue streak and a couple 20’ 1/2” arborplex pieces.

Is that 5/16 hollow braid an orangish color? Kind of looks like tenex? I'm not sure what it is, so I've been using it to make sling loops for light rigging.

I've got a ring-n-ring made from that stuff! I have a picture of the sling once it was spliced and lock stitched and covered in vortex cover but before it got the small thimble added.
It is solid hitch cord.

I got a huge batch of that red 5/16" 12-strand stuff. I asked one of the guys who knows ropes at TS and he ID'd it as Yale pilot line. Seems almost identical to single carrier tenet, but the Yale covering (mnaxijacket) seems a little waxier at first.

I- and also some blue 1/2" and orange 5/8" versions of it also - I think both fall under Yale's PE-12 or similar. The Orange makes nice mid-strength ultraslings....

I think PE-12 doesn't follow color-for-size conventions, and all sizes are available in any color. The different sizes I got were definitely covered in the same basic coating as the pilot line - twhich is why I believe they're probably PE-12.

speaking of links, sorry: should have included this:

I bought this cord on EBay a few years ago from a guy in the UK, then stuck it in a gear bag and forgot it. The transaction recorded by EBay is long gone and I’m not sure I’ll ever figure out what it is.

I guess 8mm, there’s a US quarter there for size comparison. The core is removed at the eye splices.

Seems like nice stuff but I’ll probably only use it for progress capture or some other non critical application.
