Ring slings rope selection

I feel like arborist supply dealers are just pumping out ring slings on all kinds of different kinds of ropes, and I've become curious about the choices of ropes.

Who would buy a rigging sling made with kernmantle rope? Would that not take a beating, cinching down on a stem when loaded, sometimes shock loading them and what not?

Just speaking a conversation, not referring to any specific arb supplier

Isn't the old stand-by eye sling made of stable braid, or super braid, or super braid plus almost kermantle anyways?

I've used kernmantle (1/2" KM-III) for climbing canopy anchors, but I've got two layers of chafe sleeve over the rope. They do have a thin outer sheath compared to a double-braid.
It's quite static until shock loaded. Then, you can feel the elongation of the nylon core. High tensile strength, about 9000 lbs. or so, if I remember correctly. They have been working very well and have held up beautifully.

I don't see why it couldn't be used for a light rigging anchor/sling, but I'd think the chafe guard tubing would be a wise addition. I really don't know if the abrasion would be an issue or not without it. My KM-III MAX ropes are kernmantle, and they're holding up fine being dragged around and over limbs. Maybe it's not as big an issue as we think.

I would think the reasoning behind kernmantle rigging slings is that the outer surface of the rope is purely defensive, protecting the loaded fibers. Like a built-in chafe sleeve. I can definitely respect the toughness factor of rope slings made with stuff other than hollow braid polyester, which is all I use at work. The shredded fuzzy worn out tenex look is not very pretty.

My little experience with kernmantle ropes is that the jacket isn't very tough. I imagine loading up a timber hitch or birthed rings causing rough spots on the sling.
But this is speculative, just thinking of my kernmantle lanyard I had tried.
