Rig N' Wrench

Got mine yesterday. Can't wait to use it on a sycamore removal on Monday. The warning illustration of hair caught in the pulley cracks me up!

Two questions does it come with the carabiner pictured above? How does the rig wrench work in a negative blocking situation. That is where I see the the thunder sling excelling. I could be wrong could someone post a video of how the dynamics and shock load happen when negative blocking. Show me this work and one of these guys is headed my way ASAP.

Cool! I spliced it up with a tenex deadeye, eliminated the carabiner but it is no longer midline. I wouldn't recomend this for large negative rigging, it is still just a pinto and you wouldn't be able to control much. My climber smashed out a 40 for 22 dbh honey locust today and he negative rigged the last brush piece and a smaller chynk before we were able to flop it. The rig n wrench was perfect for that tree. I did a 80 foot 40 dbh dead elm a few days earlier and the rig n wrench was great at the beginning but then we started to use the porty as the pieces got bigger and then moved up to a normal block and my 9/16 line.

Midline will be key. I was just asking does the tree stuff kit come with the beiner or not. I totally understand not for huge rigging. I just am talking <12 wood. I just would really like to see it function in that method.

Thanks Kevin. That is exactly what I need it to do just placed an order from treestuff so it will have to wait for a couple days. That is larger wood that I was thinking. From my vantage point that looks about 12" diameter and 18" please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks again for the invention and video.

I made up this AmSteel Blue sling on a rope grab... it is a midline attachable one (push-button slic pin) and I put it on a limb close to me and use it to hold the rope while I cut. I can even use it like a belay device, by just releasing it a bit, on bigger limbs. I'm thinking a Petzle Rig or ISC D4 or similar might work even better. Anyway, there's still a lot of ideas that are going to spawn from the Rig 'N Wrench concept!

I got to put it to the test yesterday during a large sycamore removal - it sped up the process incredibly. The type of rope makes all the difference - I actually prefer climbing lines to dynema as it adds a little more friction and control. I'm creating a groundie who does about half as much though!
