Reg Coates?

Haven't been on Treebuzz for a while but when i was there was a fella called Reg Coates who was well respected.
Just wondering if he still around....

Reg is alive and well. Started his own small biz in Victoria BC Canada. He still posts vids on TreeHouse. I chat with him now and then. One of my fav arbs of all time.
Yep he’s all good, he’s likely at Starbucks having a tea right now :hueco:him and @August Hunicke @rico should be the ones that have 200 k or more followers on you tube not some joker like Human who knows nothing about tree work. There I said it. :baaa::sorprendido3:

Truth spoken.

Often imitated, never replicated.

People who have been around the block again and again and again, successfully.

My old retired neighbor has successfully made it through 43 years of PNW logging, started back when trees were still big and not plantations, never having missed a day of work from being beat up too badly from a mishap.
I told him that our other neighbor had relayed that tidbit to me.
In the same breath that he said, yes it was true, he said YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO HAVE YOUR HEAD IN THE GAME.
He has never had a bunch of cameras on, narrating away, and has lived to tell about it.

If you are bad at something dangerous. Stop while you're behind. Leave the camera at home. Become good before you become dead.

REG UPDATE- I was cruising down the coast yesterday afternoon when I happened upon a mobile hotdog stand being run by a man who looked an awful lot like Mr. Reg C. My curiosity got the best of me so I pulled over and purchased the daily special which happened to be a Scottish Haggis Dawg.

This man looked exactly like the follically gifted Reg we all know and love, but his head was completely shaved. Now I'm starting to think Stihlmadd might also be correct because when I pulled up he was just finishing up a cardigan/sweater- vest fitting on a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix, and I could have sworn the vest was made from human hair.

We had a nice chat, and he told me among other things that his name was Reginald PettiCoates Junction, that he was from the small fishing village of Annisquam Massachusetts, where apparently everyone speaks the same butchered version of the English language that he does, and the he was working hard and saving up his money to go to Monk Vocational College.

Now 2 things lead me to believe that this might in fact be a real, honest to goodness, genuine Reg sighting. First when he saw the chainsaws in the back of my trunk this man displayed an uncanny knowledge of the cutting arts. Second he had a GoPro on his bald head and appeared to be videoing our entire conversation. Everything was going along fine and dandy as I was working up the nerve to ask him if he was in fact the venerable Reg Coates when BAMM. He spots an empty StarBuck's coffee cup on my dashboard and goes batshit fucking crazy. Fearing for my life I threw my barely touched Haggis Dog at that wingnut mutherfucker and headed for the hills as he was screaming "let er run".
Was it Reg? I have my suspicions, but who fucking knows? Only a DNA test will solve this mystery.

“ Folically gifted”
THAT’S the words that always escape me when watching his vids.
Even tried growing my hair out in hopes of improving my tree game but was all for naught. Is Jew-Fro not PC these days? It looked something like that but on an Irish guy.
.... shit is the “ I” word not PC either?

Just had a beer with seanruel and a new interested fella asking about tree work and youtubing, my words were "every time I watch Reg Coates I learn something new". Gotta dissect the video sometimes, good stuff.

Agreed. Reg is simply one of the best tree-men on the planet. He is one of those rare individuals that just doesn't seem to have any holes is his tree game. Hall of famer for sure!!!!
