We were contracted to do a rush removal of 3 x 90 conifers in a luxury resort trailer park- tin can alley I call it! We completed the mission on schedule and cleaned the lot nice and shiny. I phoned the client and said were done and how would you like to pay? He said he’d leave cash at the office.. I like cash! A lot! A few days later I get a call saying that we moved his 3600 dollar aluminum gazebo and it was racked, he planned to sell it but now he can’t. I assured him we didn’t make any contact at all and the damage must have been done by someone else. He said he won’t pay me until I come to some kind of arrangement to replace or repair his shit. Do I went down to the park and took a couple photos... the gazebo was moved alright- in the opposite direction! Have a look her and deduce for yourself. All the trees came the direction of the camera, the gazebo was pushed the other way? Hmmm. Anyway, a week later, the CLIENT, calls me back and said the mover of the old trailer that was there before backed into it! Asshole! Pay me! And you owe me an apology too! In 12 years servicing that popcan trailer park the only damage we caused was knock off an orange marker lite on a camper! How dare he insult my work! Show me thu muney dude!

I had this recently with a fertilization treatment on 3 ornamental trees. My sub went out did the fert and I get an email back from the client with this.

Client: “I think your guy spilled something, what can we do to fix the stain?”

Me: After the explanation that my sub has a f150 pick up and landscape type trailer he still didn’t get it! A large duel wheel truck caused the spill as indicated by the oily tire tracks!

Client: “No other trucks were in the neighborhood that day though”

Me: Maybe the garbage truck, that cam in as my guy was leaving.... I believe that’s considered a truck.

Client: “They said it wasn’t them”

Me: well I’m saying it’s not us and can prove it.
Took him over a month to pay me with 2 reminders, and I still got the “we still can’t figure it out”.
Not my problem bud, It’s not us!

10+ years ago took down a large basswood by a septic bed. Uneventful.
Client (a doctor) calls me a day or so later, says we must have cracked a pipe cause ground is saturated.
What a coincidence! Great!!!
I become an archeologist and excavate the area with trusty shovel.

Arborist becomes mole.

And discover no crushed or broken pipes. Nada. Just plugged solid with roots and dirt is all.
No apology offered by client, who watched the mole work, but declined participation in the activity.
