Ramsey vs Dynamic winch for Bandit 12xp

It is very slow. But it's faster than me.

I personally haven't run into a heat issue yet, but I'm definitely constantly aware that I'm probably approaching a use ceiling / failure point at some point. Strain on the truck frame, battery, alternator, parking brake, controller, winch motor.... So far I haven't broken anything, but it's only been a few months, and I assume I'll find out soon.

The hardest I've pushed it was probably 4 hours of dragging brush piles and logs up to 1000lb across flat forest floor. I haven't maxed out the pulling power completely, yet, because I don't want to break my truck. Most days its just scootching a big log or pulling a couple brush piles up a bank. Often it's a winch pull, then a pull with the trans in 4lo.

So far using the electric truck winch as a solo I've found it really helpful, and I know I'm always going to want a winch above the chipper, so I'm surprised that I haven't seen the two combined before. But there's a lot I haven't seen and a lot I'm learning, so that doesn't mean very much.

The 4x4 off road crowd has a break lock that can be plumbed into your existing break system. It allows you to lock all four tires while not holding the break pedal down. I’m not sure if it works with ABS systems.

I have a Ramsey HD-P8000 on my 2023 Bandit 15XP.

The drum holds 200’ of 3/8’s Amsteel with 5 layers.

-1st layer (0-40’) Max pull 4700 lbs.
-3rd layer (80-120’) Max pull 5900 lbs.
-5th layer (160-200’) Max pull 8000lbs.

It has a 133 degree temp planetary duty cycle.

If you only kept 80’ of line on the drum, you would have 6800-8000lbs pulling power right off the rip. (You loose about 660lbs per new layer).

That’s what I have on my mini, but with a down tuned motor, so it’s a hdp 4000.
Not sure if they are on the market, I called a dealer who informed me of the unit. But I had to get it direct through a back door at Ramsey. My FEELING is they aren’t available to the public because they are using a proprietary motor on them made by one of the bigger chipper manufacturers.
Mine has about half the line capacity as yours, and thinking of dropping down to 5/16
