Questions and concerns about "The Snip" for male climbers

I guess female climbers can add any info to, but mainly trying to source information and guidance. 2 years ago I posted this question https://www.treebuzz.com/forum/threads/attention-male-climbers-a-question-about-the-snip.37452/ and unfortunately my appointment was canceled and life got in the way and I never made a new appointment. I am currently weighing the options and looking for advice again about how long healing might take, and the positive or negative experiences. I have a great fear or Post Vasectomy Pain syndrome that I keep hearing about. I am trying to solve an issue not walk away with more issues. advice is greatly appreciated.

I had it done years ago when my late wife found out she had a serious heart issue and could not have more children. No problems at all. It was not a pleasant experience, to be sure, but was over quick and I drove myself home and was back at work in two days. No real after-pain after that. Good luck with it.

Just do it. I got mine about 10 years or so ago. I have on occasion had some phantom pain but compared to the pain of a whoops or having your partner on birth control, a little ache every now and then is worth it IMO. My only advice is, whatever they tell you about when you can give things a sexual try again, double it. I gave things a test run a little too soon afterwards (3 days after?) and it was a rather painful experience. That is one medical procedure that I am a huge proponent of.

I got lucky my wife had her tubes tied after out last baby. First one was emergency c-section so the second one was a planned c-section. My wife is 5'1" and our first was 9lb10oz second was 10lbs2oz and pregnancy was just hell on her so we decided on no more kids.

In my opinion phantom pain is all mental, wish I never would of been told about it in the first place. I put it out of my mind atleast 5 years ago and haven't suffered a single incidence since.

What is recovery time like? I too had this scheduled before our second was born. Any issues with saddle pinch afterwards durning or after the heal time?

It has been a while since I had mine done but I don't remember an especially long recovery time. Just do what we men are really good at (listen to medical advice) and you'll be fine. The most memorable part for me was the first clearing of the pipes. :llorando:

I got snipped a few decades ago at a point where I was windsurfing every chance I had. Wore a seat harness for windsurfing, so similar to wearing a saddle. I was ”back in the saddle“ after about 3 days without enough pain to keep me from enjoying my windsurfing.

I had to have surgery when I was about 12 because one of the boys refused to drop into the sack like he was supposed to. When I got the snip, the doc pulled on something on that side that I could feel up into my lower abdomen as he pulled it but other than that no other issues with the procedure. However for a good 15-20 years afterward that pain would happen at the point of climax more often than not. I am sure it was due to whatever messing around the surgeon did when I was a kid and not the snip. Hasn't been an issue for a long while now, these days there are other issues.
