Question on blocks and pulleys

Had a quick question guys. I'm thinking of buying Dad a new block or a few pulleys this year and need you opnion. I know a few things he really wants, so I'll just list them and see what everyone thinks.

1.Hobbs block, probaly 3/4"
2.Tree Pulling kit(the one with the petzl pulleys)
3.Misc pulleys

Alright, what does everyone think. He dosen't have that many pulleys or blocks right now(we had a whole bag full that was stolen 3 or 4 years ago. never found it again. It had some nice pulleys/blocks too) The favorite thing he lost was his Hobbs block, so I'm thinking of buying him that, since we only have 1 block right now. He would also love the tree pulling kit, so just seeing what you guys think. Thanks

Good choices.

I have a few Hobbs blocks an assortment of others and a few tree pulling kits.

Make sure that you overmatch the sling for the Hobbs block, meaning that get a stronger sling If you are going to be lowering with a 3/4" double-braid line, get a 7/8" double-braid sling or 3/4" hollow braid sling (Tenex/Yalex/Nynex etc.)

Very black and white statement.

More open statement which allows for one to consider dyneema, technora, HMWP etc.

All my rigging slings are Amsteel Blue. 3/8" are super long for spider legs and porties. 1/2" are shorter for aloft.

One must understand and consider the impact static rope at rigging points may incur. But under most circumstances there is little issue for my applications. If there were, redirecting a porty to an adjacent tree will add enough 'dynamic' rope to the system to counter the static slings.

Oh, and I'm a big fan of CMI's stainless rigging blocks. Economical and strong.

the CMI stainless rigging blocks on oversized tenex loopies are my favorite. I also use the ISC spring blocks, which are pretty good. I like the stainless way better than the aluminum.

CMI rescue pulleys for rigging re-directs on amsteel slings

Greg G uses a neat aluminum block (I think it was blue??) that I don't know the name of... they are super strong and light.

Really? I have been wanting to do that for years now. I use my G.R.C.S. at least 98% of the time for removals. Have you used the amsteel blue with the G.R.C.S.? Will the 1/2" work well with lifting in the G.R.C.S.?
