This biz has lots to do with contacts. Work on getting a good crane co. contact thru this or other jobs. Know what you are doing and don't make them engineer the job for you. Wait for the big stick as you will need it again sometime (your short crane illustration looks like you gonna scrape the peak big time). Forget about dumbing the job down with rigging.

If you are lucky enough to get the big crane and the op you want this time, be confident with a pre set plan, knock the $hit outta the job (including the stick), toss the op a $100. bill when he drives off along with the paid on completion check and maybe next time...

Somebody else gotta worry about getting him to show up because he picked you first. Good luck.

No, it was a forum designed to be used instead of conference calls for the production of a TCIA BMP of Rigging.

I knew that pic would come up again David.

Just a question about the original idea: Don't palms have less strength than trees? I imagined the whole thing bending over the house as the crane booms up... and then the rigging line snaps and hits the climber who is now tied in to a catapult... I am glad to hear that there are other scenarios being explored. Please follow up on this post and let us know how it went.

job is done. home owner couldn't wait for the bigger crane.
i used a bunch of tires around the targets(gardens, back deck, stone paver etc) to protect them.

we set up a speed line with the mini cat as the anchor. after i got about half the tree gone, i just bombed the rest in small 2 foot pieces. it worked out good. thanks for the tire idea guys. i haven't really used tires before but i see now how they have their place in tree work. we got 12 large semi truck tires for free and the guy we got them from was more then happy to get rid of them.

I've used old, free, matresses for similar work. The truck tires are going to cost you to get rid of, that's why the guy was happy to give them you! But, keep them until next time you need them.
