Why does altec put their rear mounts set back from the tow plate and Terex puts theirs right at the back? Altec is sacrificing about five feet of horizontal.

Love our ALC but getting old and time to replaceI think the Altec is heavier and their thinking is the boom is more stable over axle. Tha best rear mount ever for tree work was aerial lift of Connecticut. They had their boom turret right at the back of the truck. With cab to axle of 84” it was the best setup. They had a squared torque box under unit to give unit stability and more rigid. Had to go on a 33,000 give truck
