I have this pair of pole spikes that I would like to trade for a pair of Tree spikes. It comes with all straps and the thicker, felt lined weaver T pads.
When Mike Powers was in process of developing his now world famous Powerscender, he and I made a trade where I acquired this prototype pair. This is a CMI foot ascender permanently attached to the iron-if I remember mike had said this was done via a process common in sone kind of helicopter construction.
Anyway, this has been really great over the last 3-4 years, but frankly I don’t need them very often and have a different pair of pole spikes that I prefer to use more regularly. It functions great, the ascender lines up so that the rope runs cleanly away from the point. I can’t think of a single time ever that I spiked the rope while ascending on it. The higher position of the ascender means that your weight is on the whole leg evenly, which I always liked. CMI won’t kick out, which I think is good with spikes on, no surprises.
I’d love to have a pair of tree spikes on hand, as occasionally a situation calls for the longer point.
Is it too much to hope for an older pair of Geckos or something similar? I’m pretty open. Send me a message-whatcha got?
Own a piece of History folks! Thanks!
