props for limbs

A couple of 10K ratchet straps and a chain made the take down relatively easy. Same job had another one split the the ground leaving one half/trunk to be removed. Another broken, big fir from the same storm, same job, too. Gave it a new dominant lateral, and removal of hazard branches will hopefully give it a few years before the full takedown, as it is in a no-target area. Cabled two additional D-firs at same house. Second to last picture on that last page was one of my favorite trees, having "three Doug-firs" growing out of the trunk. HO had us remove the large side limb for fear of losing the whole tree sideways across the driveway. Now just a huge, great wildlife snag (already having huge cavities. About 40" dbh and 50' tall. HO was happy to keep that spar for wildlife, so it was a mixed bag, in that the spar will probably last a lot longer with out all of the sideweight levering on it.).

Well it certainly doe not have Dendro's panache with the clients.....

Good pics of very well thought through construction on the, major props in that article.

Have to say just how impressive the proping job is on the capitol campus trees. Great pics too thanks Sean.

[/ QUOTE ]And the strange part was, she's the hottest client ever! That panache thingy only gets going with abstract admiration.

I must get some of that abstraction.....all I seem to get is some odd version of subtraction with our clients lately.

I really like the circus pole concept, can't say I had seen it before (though I'm sure other lateral thinkers have used similar approaches) bit of a Homer moment ....douh...
