Pro Stripe Climbing Line

I was at an Arborists Supply store and was checking out the new rope. I noticed the splice had no core and the cord had several inconsistant spots about 10' past the splice. I had the store call the manufacturer and they said thats the way the rope is made. Sounds shady to me.

Hey Todd, A 16 strand splice has no core because the majority of the strength is in the cover the core is there to keep the rope round.I'm not sure what you meen by spots?they could have been measure markers I know when I splice my own lines there are marks left at the end.

I just started spliceing my own ropes as well. The only bump I could forsee 10 feet from the splice would be slack in cover wich in time will get milk out to the tail and should be trimmed. This is common with new ropes. The only other bumps I could see is where the wond was inserted to pull cover through and then the overlap and taper.
