Preformed Inc. Wedge Grips

Just got off the phone with wedge grip company. They have admitted they have received complaints regarding the failure of the grips. They also stated the grips were only tested in the lab with vertical pulling techniques not actual installs in trees. I am very disappointed at this time as I have many units installed both this year and last.

Ryan at Preformed Inc also told me not to use the grips until he gets back to me sometime next week. They are trying to re-figure or fix the product in order to address the problem of the grips sliding off the strand, or cable.

Just thought I would pass this along. Guess it is back to Rigguy for now.

Great, I installed about a dozen of'em.

Although now that I think about it, 4 were for a guy who later screwed me over kinda bad.

O yea like that's a good thing; he'll look to screw you worse when one pops off.

Company position at one point was that the only way they could fail was if the operator failed to install them with the inner wedges perfectly aligned. of course if it comes apart how does one know how they were aligned?

Some transparency in testing, with independent observers, seems appropriate here.

but his heirs might....good luck with all that....the hardest part of this tree business for me is not the trees but the business
