Re: Rigging twigs or get the job done

These things are of not one pure shade or the other neither is all good or all bad; but rather a gradient in between.

These competitons/ exhibitions you see are partially to take a turn at sharpening and sharing one side of ye blade; polishing it to beyond where it is for a fuller consideration and broader range of skills. Pushing the limits even further; growth, broader spectrum. Some things will be left behind in day to day work by many; but some golden gems will be snuck home in tool box/ skill set by many too. Some; might save a life, spur new techniques etc.

i think it is about growth by expanding limits and understandings/ not being stagnant. The whole industry is in a magical time of such growth/ realization, there is now less catching up needed to be done to reach were mountain/ rescue have been for some time.

Everything to it's own scale; i've l-earned a lot facing and backcutting 3" branches with a handsaw and different angles of hand pull; that have carried over quite well to rigging, felling and bucking.

Weather the author was serious or not; i passed by without a thought. i think the question is one that is good to have answered inside to maintain focus and acceptance; as it has to be wondered about from time to time, in many different weighs by more than just one IMLHO.

i'd be honored Mr. Mangoes! Truly much of it a general life philosophy; that fits many things.

Though i truly think the best quote is in signature: "Nature to be commanded; must be obeyed" -Sir Francis Bacon's inductive inferance distilled from observations of m-any things of power. i all ways keep that in mind; it has lead me thru pulley, rope, lever, hinge etc. explorations. Heck, i've always thought it is even key in romance; kinda like that is just dancing with powerful forces as any other we do!

Orrrrrrrrr something like that!

Hope all that didn't scare ya off!

Hey treespyder, I agree with your main point.
Francis Bacon was also the first to say, "Knowledge is power"
Shame he didn't apply this philoshophy to his own life. He died of bronchitis caused by repeatedly going out in the winter weather to stuff a live chicken with snow, he wanted to see if the cold would preserve it.

Re: Rigging twigs or get the job done

Benstrong, you are obviously a phony angry arborist.
Guys who talk like you would never even use a computer let alone post on a tree forum.

You are angry cause you feel resentful that the industry is moving on without you, its ok for you to feel this way, but dont try to project your inferiority complex onto other people.

Everyone can see through your contrived persona, you probably are a very good climber, but your ego is stopping you from being a better one.

You can't stop progress.
So grow up or shut up.
