possible broken foot

Well I have an awakening to share. It happened Friday at the end of the day. I was packing wood that was being cut into smaller pieces when I had one fairly good sized piece that flipped down and crushed my foot leaving it sore and swollen. I didn't think anything of it at first I figured it was just bruised when as the weekend progressed it kept getting more colorful and keep being sore and swollen. To the touch of the skin it is almost numb. I am going today in order to get it checked out with x-rays to see if it is broken or just badly bruised. What could have been done to prevent this? Well I could've slowed down and took my time loading and rolling pieces rather than getting in a hurry and pulling them while they were being cut and perhaps even wearing steel toe boots.

Accidents happen. Here's an ambulation tip - ditch the crutches they're gonna give you and use an office chair with rollers to get around at home. And keep that sucker elevated!

good point mb, the crutches, after a while, kill of nerve endings in your arm pits, making your arms more susseptible to "pins and needles" syndrome

when i hurt my ankle last year, i crutched around for only a week and developed this pins and needles syndrome, it went away after a month, but while i was climbing, if i held my arm at a certain position, it felt like it was falling asleep, heal up brother

Well thanks for the advice on keeping it elevated MB. I got the results from the x-rays and they came out negative so I'll be back to work tomorrow.

It might be worth taking a day or two off. Just because its not broken doesn't mean it isn't injured a little. I'm just concerned about health and all. Hope you feel better.

steel toe sounds like a good place to start as far as the injury prevention goes, but you could still break or injur a foot with them too. Not that you werent being aware, but it sounds like awareness is the key here. I always try to remind myself to check where my body is, a lot of times you cant see your feet so your unconcerned with what might happen to them. Right when you think you got it all down... BOOM trouble arises. Feel better man, take it easy til its ready to rock again.
