pole pruners

It seems so much arborist gear is getting well needed updates but the lowly oh-so-useful pole pruner is stuck in the dark ages. Is there any improvements in sight?

Yes. An angled head. I saw one in a catalog once. You don't know what easy cutting is until you've cut with something with an angled head on it!

The Florian ratcheting pruner head is quite nice, although you don't see them around much.

I've found the longest Fiskars pole pruner (secateur head) has been a huge improvement compared to the Wolf secateur head with its cord activated head.

I also like the Barnel pole with the Barnel saw head. Much longer than the Wolf pole and the saw blades are way cheaper than the Silky blades.

I've made hooks for both the Wolf and the Barnel which are fabulous for putting a rope into cluttered or very vertical places. Wouldn't be without them.

The Florian stuff, like the Barnel is virtually never mentioned it seems--Florian ratchet heads are quite expensive for us in Australia but very well made indeed.

The 12' Corona Big Bite is all I ever needed.

Though a short 6-8' Pole Pruner is great inside the interior of the tree also.
