Podium Bosun\'s Seat By Petzl

I've been using my Petzl Sequoia SRT for palms but as everyone knows your legs take a beating from hanging there.

I plan on getting a Sequoia Swing in the future as the palms get bigger but in the mean time been thinking about saving a buck.

Has any one used the Podium Bosun's Seat? If so is it worth the purchase for a short term fix?

Thanks

Hey Tree Frog,

I think one of the easiest and cheapest solutions that i heard about at SPRAT training is to use a stripped down skateboard. Apparently it works really well.

I got the Podium (and Sequoia SRT) about 5 years ago. The Podium is well made and very comfortable. I don't climb in it because with it, it's more awkward to move around. BUT, I do use it if I'm going to be sitting at all, like say, for stripping ivy.

Originally I got it for zipline and elevator riders that have never been in a harness. It's much more comfortable than the Sequoia Swing, and I like that I can "add or subtract" it at will.

Cobble together a scratch built bosun using some plywood and cords. A layer or two of carpet padding after you radius the edges of the plank.

You'll get an idea if you want to spend money on the real deal.

Sequoia swing, bought one in a moment of idiocy...that thing lasted one climb...I was so pissed I tore it apart and kept the backpad as I had a regular sequoia...threw the rest in the garbage and said good riddance...most cumbersome uncomfortable thing ever....for palms I go up SRT and switch to Ring/Ring FS to work...no need for another saddle ( I use a TM ) I try not to spend to much time up there anyway

...maybe it works for some but that was my experience... ( I like leg loop saddles )
