Plague of Equipment Failures

This past week I have been plagued by euipment failures causing me to have to delay jobs. I try to keep up on maintance as much as possible but if its not one thing its another. Had a flat on my bucket truck last friday, took the tire in they were supposed to have it yesterday.Nope and still dont have it today Weds. After making my pointless trip to go get my tire that wasnt there I pulled into my drive only to notice the exhaust is hanging down out of my dump truck! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I was wondering if I am the only one with this luck? And if you have the same luck as me how do you deal with it? I really just want to go apeshit and start yelling and throwing but I usually just break more stuff when that happens?

That is always the way! It always seems to be 2, 3, 4, ......... things all at the same time.

Not worth getting crazy about it because it happens to everyone. Just remember it could happen at an even worse time!

Good luck and be careful

Yep, we had a string of things go wrong, stump grinder, the 441 then the other.... its the nature of the beast. I just want to get the repair done as quickly as possible to minimize the down time.

Got tires back on truck, got a bit of a late start about three we left the shop went and climbed some trees all went smooth, went to take a big maple lead off a house got most of it done. Get to bring in a crane tomorrow!! The universe is starting to align again. Ahh life is pretty good!!!Thanks guys its good to know I am not the only one.

There are times when it seems like I have the Reverse Midas-Touch. Instead of everything turning to gold when I touch it...wellllll...it doesn't turn out well.

Once things are fixed, they're done though.

I am now mad I replied to this thread and told you to keep your head up. All of my stuff started to break today. At least I have the weekend to get it right!

I had one of those days today.Alternator went in the chipper so naturally I ended up with a dead batery half way through the job. Gave up and went home but stopped for something to drink at the gas station, didn't see the newly posted no parking signs out front. I got a parking ticket and I was only inside for three minutes. Good times! Is it odd that we still love our jobs?

Me too. Chipper starter is shorting out. Running it till it dies. Fridge at the house died, that cost a grand.

Cutting down 50 year old hedge (view property) and H.O calls the city to see if we need a permit... I call city (I know the lady) and I send pics and description. No reply. We cut down all the trees (hedge!) and then get email that we need a geologist survey to determine if the 'slope' below will become unstable. Hope we don't get busted... Oh yeah, killed many bird eggs in nest. bummer

People ask me what i do and I respond, that I clean up messes, and fix broken things.

[/ QUOTE ] That is so true! That is why most tree guys I know are also pretty dang good mechanics and carpenters, and we can demo like pros.
