Pizza Express.

We had to do this take down, dismantle, whatever you want to call it on a sunday cos the three lanes of traffic here gridlocked monday to saturday.

Its right in the centre of town where I live about half a mile from my house. The tree belongs to the town council and is 1 of 21 to remove on a contract which I got.

This was one of the bigger ones on the list and the most awkward due to its location.

There was a large hole in the trunk at ground level and this extended downwards right through the root plate.

Any way back to the tree. It had a very unpleasant wobble to it, so we rigged small using two blocks mounted on the inside of each of the two main stems. As the tree had been reduced in the past the weren't any long bracnches to deal with so it was all down by 12.30pm in time for pizzas.

While I'm here I'd like to share this pic that I took of a willow tree. its situated at the other (rougher) end of the same town. Notice the shops in the background that are borded up. Pic was taken midday ish during the week.

I've worked in this area before and you need to finished and gone by 11am otherwise all your kit gets stolen or fire bombed!

Still thats no excuse for this type of work, not quite sure what the contractor thought he was doing!

Great car Rupe,

It is a newer model right? Keep it out of range of the pornstar. /forum/images/graemlins/driving.gif

I think they were wannabe pornstars!

Yes newer model, 1999. Newest car I've ever had. Its got airbags and air con but it still doesn't wash itself!

It has done 104K (miles) already but that made it cheaper, which is good cos the stump grinder cost a lot more!

I like seeing a car at work like that. People over here think they need a F250 diesel to haul a bag of dirt from the garden shop. 4 cylinders is all you need most of the time.

Hehe. When I read the title I was expecting a pic like the one I attached. Pizza Express...

Nice one. We've had pizzas delivered to site before, its great. This time we had pizzas sent out side for us but we were too busy eating to take pics. Also the tree was down by then so we sat around the stump for our feast.

Treebing, I totally agree with you. Large pic ups are becoming more popular here. Nissan Navaoros and Mitsubishi warriors, mostly being used for grocery shopping and taking kids to school. It makes me mad when you meet one on a narrow road and they won't pull over onto the dirt!

The subaru does a lot of work, but is then a decent car for the weekends. Its surprisingly good off road too although its a bit low. Its used to haul all the tools with combi saw and all attachments in the roof box.

I had a subaru outback a couple years back when i was doing work in mexico, that was a great car, if i remember right it could raise and lower.

I have a little ford ranger thats a 4 banger, you can haul quite a bit of wood/equipment if you know how to make the most use out of a standard transmission.
