Phytoplasma on dogwood and red maple

Has anyone ever seen phytoplasma infection on red maple and Osier dogwood? I think that's what I have, but I don't want to spend the $220 to send two samples to Agdia for testing. I'll have photos tomorrow, they're on my work computer.

i may have seen it on red maple, but not known what i was seeing! sinclair & lyon note no such infection--is there a better/other tree disease text you would recommend? thanks for posting pics (and nice seeing you at lunch in chicago--was afraid to introduce myself).

I can't find anything about red maples in the 2nd ed. of Sinclair and Lyon, but it does mention dogwoods on page 394. I've looked in some other books in our library that cover mollicutes that infect plants, but again, nothing on red maple.

Guess I'll have to keep looking.

weird tufted regrowth there, and those bare buds still look alive. i think you are getting warm, but don't know...

peel back the bark, above and below the sprouts?

Hi RBS-
Any chance of herbicide drift or translocation within the soil?
Maybe something used on surrounding turf area?

Or sometimes it's in the materials the mulch was derived from.

Glyphosate damage often appears as 'tufted' regrowth.
