Photographing redwoods using rigging

That gives me a completely different perspective on that image. I was guessing panoramic camera with a long lens from far away.

Mosaic with really short lenses, pretty dang cool solution.

Ideally a long view for a panorama would be a more accurate representation, but in the forest other trees blocking the view make that almost impossible.

The picture is interesting and fun to view but is really choppy, lines and perspective just don't line up well. Usually that comes from not being sized and stitched together carefully enough. For as many pictures that were taken to assemble the final image I find it difficult to understand why there would be a problem. Unless their filling in gaps by resizing some of the images.

It looks like he's using pretty wide lenses so he's getting significant distortion in the original captures. I haven't done much stitching though. I'm guessing that's why 3 parallel cameras. It's a tough problem.

Thanks, Blinky, wide angle pretty much explains it. Gee, there's a lot more redwoods that would lend themselves much better for such a shot.

But that one is one of Sillet's favorites, Aluvatar, I think.
