Pfanner Protos question

Pretty straight-forward question:

Those of you who wear the Pfanner Protos - does it shade your eyes, or do you still need tinted glasses beneath? I currently wear a Pacific Kevlar climbing helmet, and have for years. But, Treestuff and Ropetek with that communication system has me thinking of switching over. I like having a brim to shield my eyes, and I don't like wearing tinted eyewear so much, but maybe it's worth it for the communication?

Please, input from those who wear the PP. Thanks!

I still need glasses, the integrated Protos shades are pretty sweet, I never have to worry about forgetting them in the truck, and the ropeteks are awesome.

I got caught in the rain he other day wearing my protos, and my glasses didn't get wet. there is a big brim there, I think it must shade the eyes a bit. I still wear the safety shades though, I think I will get the integrated glasses at some point.

switched from pacific with brim to the protos, biggest difference is the weight factor.
my neck really appreciates the new lid.
there is a bigger gap space between the fore brow and the bottom rim of the helmet with the protos due to the venting airflow design and I have
found more sawdust getting down that increased gap so definitely go with some form of eye protection.
once you get used to foldaway ear muffs you may never look back.

I have a protos that I wore once. I think it's too hot to wear in the summer, going to give it another go this winter or it'll end up posted here in treebay. If you want communication just buy the sena and wire them up yourself. We did that to all our helmets, doesn't have to be a kask

The glasses are sweet. Kind of weird not having something on your ears but it's way more comfy. And it forces you to wear your helmet correctly! Treestuff will do a comm install on your existing helmet, Protos included.Luke told me about a 48 hour turnaround time. It ends up costing the same as just buying the units. I do a decent job of wiring but they've done it a few times so I figure it's easier to go with experience.
