Pfanner Protos Eye Pro Options

What are my options for eye pro while wearing a Protos? Something to keep sawdust out of my eyes. Does anyone wear separate eye protection with the arms going under the muffs? What is the impact to the hearing protection?

How about the solid polycarb (or whatever) face shield? The only issue I could foresee with this is fogging. What's the word on that? Does it take an anti-fogging agent well (those of you who live in a humid climate)?

Cutting trees in the wind, I'm finding, is really rough on the eyeballs, in terms of crap coming through my Protos' mesh shield.

I don’t have the mesh screen or ear protection, I have the integrated glasses that stow up under it, and prefer ear plugs.

Mine are clear, I’m gonna buy the smoked lenses this spring.

Thanks, @Jonny. Do you find these guys to fog up much/at-all? They look slick, but I'm worried about something directly on my eyes like that fogging up. Perhaps an anti-fog agent would do good enough, but I live in a humid climate (NC), and typically with glasses and outdoor activities, fog is an issue.

I love the built-in ear pro for being able to flip them up when around others that don't run a Sena.

No, they fog up less than any other glasses I’ve worn, because they just sit where you put them, and I adjust them out further than I can with most glasses. All glasses fog like crazy on me if they are close to touching my eyebrows.
I usually stow them when I’m not cutting anyways. They’re so fast to pop up and down, well made.

Good to hear, I'm the same way with glasses. Don't know if my eyeballs are abnormally steamy or what, but...I feel ur pain, brutherrrr

Do you find they offer adequate enclosure to keep chips out of your eyes when the wind puts them right in there?

I’ve never gotten a chip in my eye while wearing them, but I’m sure it could happen with the right wind conditions if you’re already getting a face full. I try to not let clouds of chips get in my face by adjusting body position or backchaining occasionally. If you did the glasses and face shield I think that’s probably the best eye protection anyone is gonna get, short of goggles.

I agree whole heartedly with bangolskank. The protos glasses are the best for me.. I have the clear orange and smoke or tinted whatever and use each according to the conditions were up against.. makes a big difference for me as they dont fog compared to others I've tried.. I think the protos in general is bad ass and wouldn't dream of another setup after using one.. I've had the same one since koroyd was still in them.. whenever that was..

He must be blocking you!
Yea kidding that’s me, Jonny formerly Bango Skank. Actually Jonathan but only my grandma ever called me that, and sometimes mom if she was mad.
No real important reason for the name change, just felt more honest and upfront and less silly.

Good to read you again though, been getting much climbing in? Learning more?

Aaaw, thanks, man! Been getting tons of climbing, tons of cutting, tons of side jobs (it's interfering with my real job ), and am constantly learning of new climbing and cutting gurus in this area! There are loads of supportive and experienced experts around here. Been spending most my life living in a climber's paradise...and didn't know it :ROFLMAO:

Still in the "drinking from a fire hose" phase though. This has been an incredible internet experience, learning on this forum.

wore the attached eye pro until I needed bifocal safety glasses. Now I use the muffs, my eye pro and the visor if needed

You use the clear eye pro or one of the other tints? Was wondering how dark that mirror finish is.

Side note: human body is amazing; yesterday morning (the job that convinced me I needed some additional eye pro was Thursday) I woke up with the lower lid on each eye coated with crustified sawdust that eyes had kicked out during the night!(y)

Nice and nasty at the same time. I used the regular dark for sunny days and the yellow for overcast. Loved them and kept them scratch free. The only thing i'll say is if its blowing a gale then you should drop the visor also otherwise it works pretty well
