Petzl response to Kask

Petzl Alveo--Check out there website. They have a video of it and Sherrill is selling it for 100.00 visor is 45.00.

I'm waiting for the new Vertex. I think they went to a Ecrin Roc style adjusting system. Ecrin sucks for ear muffs, and I recently started/starting liking using them instead of plugs.

EDIT: Just checked, nope, same old style.

Have to look at the other one better.

The vertex single adjuster sucks though. Pulls hair, and never is "right".

I'm going to look into that Alveo.

Agreed on the adjuster part. I perfer the old style adjuster as well. I think that is a personal thing. I'd like to try the kask on to see the fit but no models in the local area. Not into buying stuff with out trying on.

Thanks Leafguy.

The Petzl looks good, has anyone tried the Alveo?

I heard the Kask isn't rated for side impacts, if that is true, why would you bother wearing one?

Most hard hats aren't, Petzl's helmets are Type 1 so they aren't either.

Industrial head protection is tested for penetration resistance (Type I & II) and impact attenuation (Type II only). Helmets that meet the requirements of this standard are classified as a Type I helmet (meets the
standard for top impact protection) or a Type II helmet (meets the standard for top and lateral impact
protection).

Ansi type 1 top impact only

Ansi type 2 top and lateral impact protection

I'll settle this.

Someone put on a Kask and someone put on a Petzl, and I'll grab my baseball bat :D

I think that would be a good idea because their description of the standards they meet sort of contradicts itself. All other Type 2 helmets I've seen have foam around the lower inside of the helmet which makes them extremely hot in the summer.

The Kask only has foam on the top of the helmet, I'm not sure about the new petzl helmets, but the old ones didn't have any foam.

Don't know about anyone else's, but my Kask has vents on the top and sides, also has a small amount of room to breath up there.. Haven't tried a Vertex, but, if I'm getting too hot, helmet comes off. Problem solved.
