Petzl Ecrin-Roc

Probably old news but vertex eat your heart out. Just got it after work. One of the better climbing hardhats I've worn. I can even head bang with out the chin strap the vertex would have never stayed on.

+1 for vents.

I've had mine for quite a while now; I also have a Vertex, but I pretty much go with the Ecrin-Roc now.

I put a PMI helmet on at On Rope and it was by far the most comfortable helmet I've ever tried. Of course, trying it on in a store and climbing in it is two different things. It has a lot of webbing that makes it really comfortable, but one has to think that all that webbing would make it hot too.

Ecrin is hard to beat.

I really like the visor option of the Kask helmet, the plastic visor seems like it would deflect windblown sawdust much better than the mesh screen logging ones. Has anyone used one of these and how are the anti-fog qualities?

Price it getting up there as well

The visor still lets sawdust in. I would am a little concerned about my nose with a side impact. If you push the helmet sideways it hits the nose. I still like the helmet so far. Im getting one for the guy working with me next.

Big ecrin roc fan since my first in '98. never found another helmet as comfortable. now i always have to order the roc it used to be everywhere until these "better helmets" started taking the shelf space in the stores ive been in.

i picked up a vertex out of convenience once and never had a worse headache in my life.

testimony to the roc, I survived a 32 foot fall whearin one, and i am sitting here five years later typing this post.i was a little disappointed however that when i sent a heart felt and pain killer inspired letter to petzl to express my gratitude i did not get a response. thats ok i understand they are pretty busy designing some good gear.
