I just replaced mine with a new one and bought the face/ear protection with it. It wont stay locked in to the metal brackets. Has anyone else had this problem? It looks like the buttons aren a complete circle...did I get a bad one or is this common?

I had the same problem. They sold little black tabs that were to be slipped into the slots. However, those just fell out after a few days. I really like the way the ecrin fit and how they adjust from the side, but the ear muff thing is a bad design in my mind. I have since retired my ecrin to a comp. helmet and went with the vertex vent.

I had the same problem with 2 of mine. I used those plastic zip ties to solve the problem. You have to find the smallest zip ties available or they wont fit in that metal bracket.

Almost off the subject but for all its worth. I tried the vertex and it kept giving me a headache. must just be me cause it seams to be a popular choice.

Ive used the ecrin roc and best for eight years always comfortable

thanks for the heads up about the muffs I was about to order some for my new ecrin roc now i know better.

In steel work vent holes are not alowed as a something falling could fall through a vent hole. I speculate this has happened for there to be a standard. I am curious if anyone has had a struck-by through the vent in tree work. I have had a twig go up my nose that felt like it throttled my brain, when I bent over in a hurry to grab a pile of rakings once.

WOW! through your ear drum.

puncture? permanent damage?

Ive worried about the twig in the ear I can see how that could happen glad your still around.

I don't leave small nubs to stand on removals cause i have a recurring nightmare about swinging into one or dropping on one.
