Permissible to attach the Akimbo direct to the rope bridge?

Hello,

I was wondering whether it is permissible to attach the Akimbo...or any other mechanical ascender/descender direct to the rope bridge on the saddle?

Any concerns about that? Advantages? Disadvantages?

Acceptable but very limiting. I would at least want a swivel. If you are trying to shorten your system, try a DMM perfect O, or experiment with an adjustable bridge? I just girth hitch a carabiner to my bridge outside of the rigging plate to shorten for ascent anymore.

I would not recommend. There’s a lot of things I can imagine being very very annoying about that setup. But the biggest reason would be I couldn’t take the system off and move around a branch or change my system aloft nearly as easily. (These things happening with a weight tested lanyard of course.)

Good point. Moved my system around branches several times advancing my tie in point today. Does anyone else get paranoid about dropping their climbing line and system during these operations? I never had a problem but I always clip a bight of my main line into my harness just in case.

I paired a RE Swivabiner with my akimbo. It does not play nice. The Rhino horn found on the dmm rhino is needed, or a smooth corner at the spine.
