Penn State Mess

[ QUOTE ]
Its a real shame for a class act like Joe Pa to end his career on a note like this.

Apparently he's not a class act at all.

I'll probably get lambasted by Penn State fans for this, but I have always thought that Paterno was a bit of an egomaniac that didn't know when to quit.

The fact that he allowed this to continue speaks to that, I think.

No, not that at all. My opinion of Paterno was formed well before this incident. I think he is an egomaniac that wanted to protect his legacy.

He will most likely never be tried or convicted for anything, except for in the court of public opinion. I just never really liked him anyway because of his self-important actions over the years. This is just my opinion, nothing more.

Tom.

I Compare Joe pa to Cal Ripken Jr.

Both should have called it quits for the better of the team but let their own agenda get in the way.

As for what he did and most importantly didn't do, he deserved to be fired. I can't believe the assistant coach isn't fired. He saw the boy being rapped and walked away to talk to his dad about what to do.

Shameful

Deserved to be fired - maybe more...

I don't know how they worked next to a man accused (witnessed) of doing one of the worst acts a human can do...
Mess with children.

Norm,

I admit this is probably an inappropriate thought process at this time. As a long time Penn State fan and admirer of Joe Paterno it was hard for me to fathom a world in which Joe Pa could have been involved in such despicable crimes. When the allegations first appeared it looked as though Joe had little to do with the crimes. As the story unfolds it appears definite that he did not do his best to stop a child predator. All I can say is that this deeply saddens me and I hope to god that these lessons can be used to stop future criminal activity of this nature.
