Thought I was the only guy that did the "choked nylon loop" trick when you need someplace to put a foot. Not often, but when you need one...!
Nice work, Ben.

Ohh Jeff great minds think alike ;) yes endless loop slings are a EDC on my harness when doing spikeless pruning. either for hand holds / foot holds or any light rigging re-directs, speed lining, holding my drink bottle the list goes on.
and when a lot of your subjects are smooth limbed Eucs you have to adapt and over come (y)
cheers Ben

That first prune looked like one of them ground to the clouds property line trim back jobs ayy?!?? One of my personal favs. Good tunes and vibe i digged it
thank you very much Bigrig, the neighbour has been pestering the council to have that tree one-sided as much as possible every year since He bought the place and it is now a right clean face thanks to the endless badgering and whining. funny thing is the tree was there when He bought the property and legally He could pay for the work himself but is a tight mean git so makes every one else round him wear the cost including what is one of the largest and oldest Eucs it the area.
not my favourite kinda guy but it did make the first job pretty straight forward. :sorprendido3:
I still digged the climb though :D
cheers Ben

Great vid Ben. How do you upload such long vid is to YouTube. Mine always get kicked back to being too long.
the trick is the more you are a "active" member of the YT "community" e.g. the more vids you post then YT gives you greater freedom to upload bigger and longer files until it gets to the point where I can load a twenty gig 1/2 hr vid without a problem.
its all about those views and likes ;)
glad you enjoyed that one.
cheers Ben.

Also: (And I've done all these too many times to count)
-Choked and keeping the chainsaw in the tree after you get it pinched and have to finish the cut from the other side with your handsaw.
-Choked and holding the bucket full of cabling supplies while you drill/splice
-For small branches that you could hold weight wise and toss into the LZ, but can't handle the swing/shock load: I choke it to itself, cut it and let the loop take the abrupt stop. Calmly put the chainsaw away, then lift up the hanging branch, slide the nylon loop off the end and toss into the LZ. (Did that make sense?)
-When you're doing a crane job and taking big picks but there is that one stupid little branch that is in the way and gonna give you a big headache (like crossing thru the center of the canopy) but is way too small to justify being its own pick, just choke it to whatever pick is nearby, cut it off and let it fly away with the big load.
-Attaching the chipper winch cable to something up in the tree that needs a little persuasion.
-And the times when things have gone very badly, they always seem to figure into the answer to "how in the heck do I get out of this situation?"
