Paclobutrazol application on a tree with two possible root zones

Hey folks, questions about attached photos of a laurel oak with sustained low leaf flush and how to treat it with paclobutrazol...

How do I stay within label rate?

What is a sensible treatment?

What is the likelihood that the second attachment point has sent down roots?

How important is it to airspade to see whether there are roots?

I'd say it is likely rooted in both places so halve the dose of AI and apply in both spots.

I've historically used 10%or so under recommended labeled rate

My knowledge of whether it's rooting in both places is based on a single live oak where the branch appears to have touched the ground, severed its connection with the tree, and is growing happily. Would you mind characterizing your experience with this sort of thing? Have you excavated these below ground? Does your experience lead you to believe that roots develop from this circumstance all or most of the time?

Pretty sure any tree can, some do it way more readily

Just my experience with numerous species that rooted from ground contact.

However, unless the parts of the tree in question have been severed, a pgr treatment at the primary trunk flare would likely translocate throughout the whole organism
