Owners and sales people *DELETED*

Re: Owners and sales people

You can't expect people to just offer up money to you. They have to see YOUR value before they do that and you might have to help see it.

You are worth what you get, and you rarely get more than you demand.

Re: Owners and sales people

Hey you know I really dont have a problem with the company the owner is a great person I was only trying to get opinions on how this works for others or if there is kinda like a rule of thumb to go by.

Re: Owners and sales people

i give my employees a bonus for christmas i base the amount on their value to the company. how long they have been working for me , how hard they work etc. if i had someone who could sell jobs , worked hard day in day out that person would get paid more than a worker who is willing to do nothing. see what they pay you for a bonus if you dont like it go and sit down with the boss and let him know that you feel you should have gottin more . never hurts to ask.

Re: Owners and sales people

When I was an employee I never expected a bonus. As it is that a bonus. When you begin to feel entitled to it it is now payroll and compensation.

No one is entitled to a bonus.

Re: Owners and sales people

Maybe so, but they are nice and instill a sense of company loyality.

Re: Owners and sales people

Ohh definately! A sense of appretiation, value, incentive etc. etc. but attitudes of entitlement negate these benefits.

Re: Owners and sales people

wow !! what a question! I am an owner of a small company 20 mins. north of the del mem brdg. in NJ.
I currently have no set policy on bonuses. If it has been a really good year those who are productive and who sometimes go outside the realm of their job descriptions will get a bonus. as an employer nothing bothers me more than my employees taking things for granted for example: Last year I got 500.00 so this year it will be more. I try to give a combination of some gift, some arborwear clothing, I do a company dinner (workers families are invited), and a cash gift in a card anywhere from 100.00 to 500.00. Keep in mind I am a very small operation.
In the future i would like to have a set way of figuring out how to do it . but currently it is by feel.
May best employees are not those who feel I owe them for "ALL THEY DO FOR ME", They are getting paid to do a job, But those who reach out to help the company by doing what is NOT required in there job description.Who push the company forward. FAT bonus for that person!!!!!!!!!
hope this helps ?

Re: Owners and sales people

Gosh you guys I just want everyone to know that I do not expect a bonus and I do, do my job cause I love it and my boss is great. I do go outside the realm for my company and do my best for me cause I do have alot of pride in my work. I also know that it is kinda hard to make a set bonus cause you dont know how much your company will make each year. I only asked the question cause I am new working with a bigger company and did not know if a "gift" was more based on how much money you made for your company being a sales person or overall performance. If I got nothing at all I would still go out of my way to do the best job I can cause of the fact that I love my job and have great pride in my work. Like masterblaster said I also believe if you work your --- off for the entire year it is also nice to feel appreciated.

This just isn't the place. It's not good for you that at least a couple of us know who your boss is. I've known him for over 20 years. If you ask these questions where it can get back to him.....you might as well ask him face to face. In fact it would be a world better to ask him to his face....because he just might not like to read it here.

Don't worry. He's not going to hear anything from me.
