outriggers, to lube or not to lube

I have received varied responses regarding greasing the outrigger legs on our bucket trucks. One camp says you should grease the legs and the other camp says it creates problems with dirt, sand and sawdust sticking and mucking up the inside of outrigger sleeve.
What are your opinions ?

Mine are dry. Work fine no wear or issues. A truck i fly for someone is greased. I watch as dirt and sawdust is sucked up inside.

When you start to see them slow and make friction related noises causes they are under stress it is just kinda making sense that the manual said lube em! So simple, where the paint is gone and the metal is wearing, slatheron the lube! The saw dust en such is just flavor, don't think about it too hard.
