Onyx or Treemotion S.light?

There are some older threads on this but I wanted to check in and see if anyone has updated opinions since theses are about the same price now. Thanks!

I have never tried the onyx but I have had the s.light for over a year now and I can't imagine something with a whole lot more comfort. Very adjustable and customizable. I personally think it's a great saddle.

I have an onyx and love it. My only problem with the tree motion is that the waist goes to a 38..... which I am. So it would be about impossible let to wear during the winter.

The one issue I have with the s.light is that there are no buckles on it. You have to step into the waist and leg loops which can be a pain.

Thanks guys.. not much treemotion love.. I know they are great saddles, but I have a lot of respect for New Tribe as well. Leaning towards the Onyx.

Do it. I got an onyx after using the tm s.light for a few months and was really happy with it. A harness without buckles downright sucks even of it does have nifty lower d-rings. Adjust the onyx right and it's like a lay-z boy.

Just got an onyx a few weeks ago. Work has been slow so I havent spent a whole lot of time in it but I am really enjoying it so far. Took a little bit of time to tune it in but damn it's super comfortable. Can't wait to do some crane work and get to 'hang out' in it. I've never tried the tree motion but the lack of buckle and the upper rings versus d's turned me off. Also with the rigging plates on the onyx I think you still have the same effect as the lower d's on the tree motion.

How is the Onyx after carrying something heavier than topping saw for any length of time?

Interested in the Onyx as an alternative to the standard (non-super light) tree motion - worry that there might not be enough padding.

I've hung my 576xp from it briefly and it was fine. Haven't had the 660 on there yet. I haven't tried a tree motion but what the onyx lacks in padding it makes up for in support. The way the webbing is stitched gives it some stiffness and spreads the load out. All this being said if I was swinging around a big heavy saw all day everyday I would look into some sort of suspender/ chest harness setup. The new tribe one is simple and inexpensive, but any setup with one rear and two front attachment points should work.

Appreciate the reply. My Buckingham Rebellion will probably last some time yet - though I'm always interested in any possible alternatives to the amazing Tree Motion (though still leaning towards that). Not a fan of suspenders/chest harness' - I'm always putting on/taking off layers. Thanks!

I've bought all my own gear for this boss (for the past 2 years). I buy the best for me so I'm comfortable, safe, efficient and keep getting better at my job. I keep wondering whether I should 'break' that habit and ask the boss to buy some gear? - I keep playing over that dilemma in my head...

How are you liking the rebellion? I considered it when I bought the onyx due to a few reasons. I don't think the onyx needs suspenders more than any other harness would when hanging a big saw or a ton of gear.
