One handed groundie, help?

We did a large dead Ash removal today. Everything had to be roped down and got away with no lifts/gravity did all the work. Our other groundie, Mo had hold of a few lowers and several tag lines with one hander aka Drummer Dave helping.
But there were several instances where he could use some help/relief for his good hand.
His other arm is basically 1/2 a palm and the bottom knuckle of the thumb.
Really appreciate any ideas/tool/techniques?

1. to pull/hold a rope
2. to lower, aid in friction with his less than hand
3. to tie knots, he is ok with overhand and slipknot

This might sound ridiculous, and potentially dangerous, but what about a mini porta wrap on his palm?

1) perhaps the wrist rocket (correct name) ascender made by Richard Mumford
2) create a brake across his thigh, similar to rapelling with a brake hand
3) what task is he needing to do that those two knots won't work? A little more info might make it easier to make a suggestion

He is well humoured and really goes hard Draggin brush, movein wood pickin and grinnin and rakin sticks etc.
I can get a pic of his hand if that helps or more details to what he can hold?

For extra grip on rope, lead the line from the damaged hand, around the butt and grab with the intact hand

A munter hitch is very simple, and could be set and operated singlehandedly, with minor slack.

A Ringo or Knuckl rope grab/ gripper, maybe. Something about Skylotec (sp?).


A ratchet strap to hold up a portawrap is great. Probably helpful for him.



A small, no-spill mixed-gas can is an easy one-hander, especially kept partially filled. This is 2.5+ gallons. Way too big.

There are smaller sizes.



As well, a small bar oil jug would help.

I second the supported porta wrap. Well the RC series lowering device actually. It’s the cats ass having it sitting prone with the top attached….. also makes it possible to take up slack before a run.
