On Saturday I flopped a dead ash for a friend his Dad and I met decades ago. G’s wife and sons all threw in for stacking brush and cleanup. A three generation tree job. It was so much fun!

G’s Dad is a photographer and watched traffic in the street. As far as I know this is the one and only video I’ve got of all the fells I’ve done in my 47 years. I’m glad it’s not a Fail

Listen to the cheers from the Peanut Gallery in the alley

Good ear!

When the trunk was laying on the ground, I looked at the butt cut of the tree and noticed a crack going across the wood. We looked at it, and it lined up exactly with the Apex of the face cut I had a piggyback 8 to 1 mechanical advantage on the pull of a rope. We all heard a big crack at one of thepullings on the mechanical advantage. Interesting to see the internal reaction to our polling.

Big Shot

The lay was figured out before the saw was started. I should have put out a cardboard box to crush. A fridge box would have been a nice target. The kids would like it too

Why a fishing pole?

I had hoped to keep the hinge from breaking. The goal was to have a slow drop so that it didn’t turn into a shrapnel explosion. It worked out ok
