Ohio TCC

Well then, we got this thread kicked off then!

As the chairman for this years Tree Climbing Championships I would like to take a minute to fill everyone in on some points of interest for this event.

The Ohio TCC is going to be on June 5th 2010 at Walbridge Park in TOLEDO, OH.

This park is a marque location and is a truly fantastic spot for this event. It is sandwiched right between the Maumee river and the Toledo Zoo. The scenery and trees are awesome.

Walbridge park is one of the cities most popular parks, on any given summer weekend there can easily be 1000+ people at this park, so all the competitors and techs are really going to get a chance to show off their talents to a lot of people.

I am currently filling slots for positions for Techs, ground crew, volunteers, etc. on a first come first served basis. Priority will be given to those individuals with previous experience at a given event. Don't worry though, even if you have never worked an event please go ahead and step on up, we will help you get a great place to serve so you can have a great day and learn a lot. Our priority will be to have a very safe and well run event for the climbers and spectators who will come out for this. Things are filling up so get on this RIGHT AWAY.

For climbers.....get your registration in ASAP so you can get a slot to compete. You won't want to miss this one I assure you. It will fill up so don't get left behind.

Also, I want to fully thank the City of Toledo parks department and City of Toledo Forestry department. They have been extremely helpful and gracious with their assistance hosting this. The Forestry Dept. has been working all winter getting this park 100 % ready for all of us and really deserves a huge thanks.

I can't wait to see you all there, this is going to be a lot of fun for all us, and as always, a great chance to learn how we all can be the best, safest and most productive climbers and tree care professionals we can be.

Good question. They don't let out of state climbers compete. I live in both states. I work, own my own business and own a home in Kentucky and I have a full time job and apartment in Ohio. I am covered under Ohio workmans comp and my employers ins, plus have a mailing address. Does this qualify me? If not, I will tech

Well after talking to shawn...I will be there! I wanna compete in the Michigan TCC for the first time and think i better come down to Ohio to get a feel for things before jumping in! Because I have tons of questions! Very looking forward to it!

Boogie, if ya wanna come down the day before, we r doing setup and practice runs the friday, I'd be happy to run ya through the events and get ya up in the trees for a practice run. Be able to show ya whats takin place at each event.

Hey guys and gals....I am finalizing the lineup for judges and techs. Anyone else that wants in just let me know, PM me or give us a call. I need your shirt size soon since we are getting those ordered here in the next few days.

Thanks.

I can usually pull of a medium or a large. If its the same shirts as last year, a large will work.

I am so pumped up about this competition! I get to watch as some of my favorite people duke it out in the trees. Will it be the perennial favorite, Jay Butcher, or Brian the Cupcake Butcherer? Or maybe someone else entirely.

Whoever wins will have earned it.
