Thanks. I guess visa's and language will be the biggest hurdle. It took me a while to find good work though there seems to be a variety of interesting tree work here, exquisite pruning to heavy-ass mountainside timber extraction. Driving home from Kiso I spotted a forestry highline running over the main road into Kiso valley. It's the non-commercial side that really gets to me, the way that Shintoism still reveres trees in a completely alien way for western people and while your typical bloke on the street has no more compassion for trees than an Englishman would it still exists if you look for it. I highly recommend coming, if only for an extended trip. The Arborists that come over for teaching visits all seem to find it a peculiar place, there is a freedom of expression not normally found in day to day life in their respective countries. Yes, the snow too, you'll want to hit, Nagano, Gifu, Gunma and of course Hokkaido !
