Ocean taper question

So I spliced this ring on some 8mm Ocean for an adjustable friction saver, but now I’m wondering if I tapered the cover properly or not. I used standard double braid eye splice instructions and removed strand pairs for the taper in a 5:4 pattern. It was my understanding that the cover has two strands per carrier (green and tan), so I removed both or four total strands at each mark (two right, two left). However I noticed in a couple videos I found that only one of the strands was removed from each. Did I do this incorrectly? If so will it have a significant effect on the strength of the splice?

I don't think it matters

In the video where they do one strand they do that on 8x strands per direction, pulling 16 of the 32 cover strands IIRC

The one strand tech keeps just keeps the braid more intact/ tidier

Thanks. It did unravel a bit more than I’ve had with other ropes, but buried just fine anyway.
