oak to oak

nice vid, enjoyed the music.

looking at the vid around 1.46 has made me realise I'll probably never use srt for work positioning.

Seeing that single line at that height looks terrifying in my eyes. It looks alien. I use srt for access then switch to DbRT.

After years of climbing DbRT I'm conditioned to see two ropes in front of me, both ends attached to my harness.

I like being in control of both ends of my line too much to start using srt for work positioning. When you use srt for work positioning you abandon control of one end of your line and to me that's a step backward from a safety point of view.

I understand the ergonomic advantages of srt work positioning. I know why it's becoming more popular and I have respect for people who are using it and feel perfectly safe but I personally would find it very distracting climbing off a single line, in short it would fill me with dread and the anxiety (especially at high heights) would affect my productivity.

Its funny because when I watched the video when I brought it home I had the same reaction. I couldnt believe I would be so dumb to get up there and climb that high above the sidewalk? I felt much more acrophobia watching the video than when climbing. I hear you about losing control over the end of your line. I guess its has not really bothered me. It usually is behind me and away from me. All those redirects really give me a sense of security though.

Nice vid, Kevin. I've Ben digging' the ZK-2 with all the storm damage work here.

I was just thinking how those limbs would of snapped if I redirected over them. Im probably 215 to 220 with my gear and boots on,but I think light .lol

How so?

I feel safer being able to emergency descend at any point without concern of a limb trapping my line on the ground .
