Oak Removal with 50 ton Crane

Nice setup for the 50 ton, looks like it was fully extended.

Good tree to have down. Always tricky working over glass houses.

The 3:20 pick would have looked neat from the climbers perspective, next time trade him hard hats will ya?!

Nice job! Thanks B.

Yup, he was fully extended with the jib. The chart showed a capacity of 3,500 lbs for the reach and angle we were at. I was very conservative on this one. The biggest pick was less than half of that.

Looks like he overtensioned quite a few of those picks. Just curious what radius you were at and how much main does that crane have?

I've never worked with a 50 before, the guys who I use only have 110 of main on theirs, so I tend to go from a 33 ton boom truck with 127? of main boom right up to a 70 ton AT with 138.

Vid even better the second time I watched with the music. The picks were not THAT overtensioned on the ones that had too much tension. Actually, pretty impressive knowing that the crane was stretched out so far. You guys weren't wearing radios were you?

I like that little lift, looks very handy, plus having a guy in the tree settin' riggin' for you is better. 261 you using there? Sweet saw.

Good job to be conservative on, even though either way it's about the same amount of time.

Some of those picks were picture perfect, as a climber, I do appreciate the realtime footage.

Safe work, very controlled.

No radios, just hand signals for the most part. I've worked with this CO for 20+ years, we don't have to speak much. He's accustomed to me taking bigger pieces, hence the over tensioning on some of the picks. I think it's his way of telling me to go big. We're usually much smoother.
