Northeast road trip… arbortourism suggestions?

Have a weeklong vacation in early June. Flying in to Philadelphia, headed to Scranton for a wedding, Albany NY for some family, then Burlington / Plattsburgh. Only have so much time but anyone have arbortourism suggestions? The wife has given me free reign to take the most convoluted route possible. No time to climb unfortunately

If you are flying into Philadelphia, Longwood Gardens is a stop you cannot miss, Morris Arboretum may be a worthwhile trip as well.

If you let me know when you are in town, I may be able to meet you down at Longwood. I only live about half an hour away from there.

You're welcome to stay over. We're 20 minutes from the airport, 30 minutes from Longwood and 7 minutes from Chanticleer gardens... that's like a mini Longwood... phenomenal place. Free to tree guys

I always forget about Chanticleer. I’ve heard good things about it though, my mother was there the other month and really enjoyed visiting. Have fun with your party, I will be off enjoying a weekend of old airplanes that weekend.

There are a couple of beautiful old growth groves near Paul Smiths College that I would highly recommend. It’s also a beautiful drive through the high peaks region of the Adirondack’s, with an easy ferry ride across Champlain that lands you in downtown Burlington. Cheers

The Arnold Arboretum (part of the Harvard University Collections) in Jamaica Plain (Greater Boston) is great (and free). Lilacs should be peaking this week.

Rickets Glen is 45 minutes from Scranton. It’s the best hiking trail in the area and has some amazing trees mixed in with the waterfalls.
