No Rig Beech (22 secs)

Nice to have a climbing takedown that doesn't require rigging......it couldn't be felled in one go because of various targets within the drop zone. Kept the video short as I dont have enough time to edit videos properly these days, no music either! sorry!

was a cool tree, real shame to see it go.

It had become extremely hazardous to people who used a public path underneath the canopy. It was infected with Ganoderma fungi which had caused two large stems to break out recently, interesting shape....

Grover, you ever need any help. I would love to come and work with you in about two years!!! Any openings. If i remember didn't you live state-side a few years ago?

it does look like a graft but I suspect it may have been heavily topped about 200 years ago, I suspect the tree is over 200 years old.

Royce,

yeah I used to work in DC as a climber, over here we dont climb anywhere near the number of large trees that you guys do in the US unless you work on Utility or are a contract climber like Reg. We have maybe 1 big takedown once a month the rest is medium/small removals, some crown lifting, the occasional deadwooding job, some small tree pruning etc. Have you ever been to Scotland?

No never, But have an itch to travel an experience arboriculture else-where. Just to see how things are done. More than one way to remove a tree and prune.
Seams like you do some massive trees, but just not on a regular basis hey!!
