My buddy and partner in crime called me to "flat side a walnut' today around two in the afternoon. Well I'm constantly switching between two vehicles and didn't grab my pulley, all I had was saddle, rope throw line ect. It ends up being two 24 inch leads over a house fence and and dish. Well I didn't have my block or bull rope or nothing! Used his three strand and blocked that shiite down ol school. Morale of the story if you don't know how to rig with out "the essentials" you should learn, its useful . I was sketched out at first but it worked out.

Old school butt hitch used many times looking back with all the advancements in the industry don't know how we did what we did back then. I knew a guy who used to climb with three strand manila rope and a pole strap lanyard with a homemade saddle didn't think much of it then but looking back WTF lol.

Only gear needed to get this hung up balsalm fir down and moved to edge of property was a porty, portable gas winch, two 1\2" ropes, throwbag, and chainsaw. <2 hours on site. No helper.

when you blocked down the wood did you have stubs to run your butt hitch over or did you have to cut grooves in the trunk to run the rope in?

Posted this photo in another thread, but same concept. I work as a contract climber in some ghetto as fuck neighbourhoods in Toronto, and had my rigging bag stolen off a job site a day before one of my own removals. Dismantled this whole sugar between two homes and above a house drop from the transformer using natural crotch only. Had to shake the cobwebs off some old technique but man, it pays to build on the basics. The more tools you have in your toolbox the better.

Sorry to hear the Bad News, Drew! That's a total Shite Sammich! Goons in da Hood, looking for Crack Money!
Dude jacked 5 of my rigging rings, a DMM large rigging block, 200 feet of rigging rope, 20 stitched slings with caribiners for speedlining, a mini porta wrap and an custom welded AFB. Not to mention the whole thing was in a big teufelberger bag. Still recovering from that loss. Hope that fucker OD's off the crack he buys from that loot, lord knows he could buy more than enough to do the job twice.
