NJ Help Needed--Housing available

well there was a little more to it than that, perhaps i'll tell you all about it over a beer someday, its been a stressful couple of years.

gonna go out today and buy myself a crap ldv truck haha

Hey! Theres loads of them around. Even the new ones are crap! Happy shopping, bet you don't get a better deal than mine!! Whats the plan then steve, you starting a new business or going freelance climbing or both?

Sounds like your in the same situation as me a couple of years back, good luck. At least now you can work when you want and have time to go to all the comps etc.

You still coming in April?

going freeland with a few to eventually having enough of my own work to sustain myself.
dont want to get into the whole employing thing so probably use subbie groundsmen.
who knows, time will tell. might even do a college diploma so i dont have to keep climbing into my 50's

i want to come in april as planned rupe, however finances are unpredictable so we'll have to wait and see.
im sure i'd be able to make it up there for a day at the least, stop for a beer and burger or something.

get your chipper yet by the way?

I know what you mean about finances being unpredictable! I haven't had any income for three weeks and suddenly all a bit scary. I've made a firm commitment to attend as many events as possible, even if the money is tight. Still not 100% sure about going to Nashville but all the others are a definate.

The way I see it is that these events, whether you compete or not, make the rest of the yearly slog seem worthwhile. You get to meet up with others in the same boat as you and it helps to remove any doubts you may have about this business.

You may have not got on too well with your boss, and you could always blame him when things weren't organized properly. Now you have no one to blame but also no one to tell you how your doing or thank you for your efforts. The more weekends away the better, but I guess you have wife and kids to think of also.

Not got a new chipper yet. Still not sure what to do. 11.5K for a new one is a bit scary. My local arborplant have a second hand one <100hrs on it for 9k and they are considering px for my bandit.

You in need of a cheap solid chipper then steve? 3.5K buyer collects.

i dont even have a yard yet rupe so cant evem think about a chipper. got a little shed in the garden and thats it.....thats gonna be jam packed full of kit by the end of next week

I don't have my own yard near my house, I don't even have a parking space at my house, its amazing what you can get away with!
My chipper lives in a forestry companies yard about 4 miles away, my truck lives in a public car park where the traffic warden comes about once a month so its cheaper to pay the fine than to buy a ticket every day. My car I can park out the back of my house but its not actuallly my space, all the kit is in a 6X4 foot shed in my back yard which is only 20x8 foot! Its a hard way to have things but we all have to start somewhere. Good luck with your venture, did you find a truck today?

nah, nothing.
i have a friend coming round tonight who has a lot of contacts, hopefully he'll be of some help.
im quite interested in the mitsubishi canters.
he just bought one for a very good price.

Well, if there are any hard workers out there that are looking to work in NJ (and didn't sign up with Treedr yet) private message me. We need all kinds, especially climbers- line clearance experience a plus, but would love a great ground worker with a CDL and the ability to operate machines, too /forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

Still looking to hire more hard working arborists! Email me. /forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif
