NFPA-780 Standard for down conductors in Tree LP systems

Some of you may recall the arguments between Guy Melliur and myself re the suitability of the standard for down conductors. I argued for many years that the specification had been reduced to save money and not for performance benifit. Guy argued that it was fine and apporopriat for use. I had said that ANSI A300 had got it wrong. Today I recieved confirmation from a member of the NFPA-780 commite informing me that the 2020 standard for down conductor has been restored.
Am I pleased you bet I am !

No arguments, Ben Fiust, just discussions. I tried to see what "restored" means, but it's not woth $67.50 to find out: https://catalog.nfpa.org/NFPA-780-S...k7OFeBfBfvPNLAlBAP5MXopAEYvQIEZhoC4Q8QAvD_BwE

Many fuses have been tripped by lightning strikes to tree systems; no tree damage has been reported. That indicates rather convincingly that the gauge approved by ANSI A300 is sufficient to protect trees from lightning.
Am I pleased? You bet I am!

So how many shares of stock in copper companies do you own? Enquiring minds want to know... :)

My only concern is for the trees and the owners, my investment is there security. Your continued ignorance of the subject renders discusion pointless. I have in the past spoon fed you and many like you. providing the information I have reasurched and experianced from over the years. The new standards will be published early spring of next year. As some one that boasts having installed 100's, of systems you bulk at the $67.50 required to purchase the standard. saying "its not worth the money to find out"!
Your cheep Guy, expecting others to continue educating you for free or at least at there expense. I for one will no longer do that. I warned you and the industry for years I provided the reasoning and the science. You for your part braged about the 100's of trees you have installed systems on, all super cheep while vilafying my work as over engineered, even refering to me publicaly as Smeagal. did you not.
Its taken me, not without help 14 years to set things straight and restore credibility to the art and science of lightning protection in the context of trees. If you think I'm going to tell you how that was achieved or what restored means then you are delusional.

Ben, the fuses tell the whole story. The smaller gauge works. Nothing personal.

Early spring? Why so long? btw I notified US standard folks about your report. They'll probably look at any changes and respond accordingly. I'm off the committee but they have tried to coordinate with NFPA in the past.

Hope you're well and that your Arborbolts break into the US market.

Guy your coment
"Hope your well and that Arborbolts break into the US market"
I was part of a team that toured the US from west to east delivering seminars on Heratige tree care. It was very exlusive and very broad. every thing from Lightning protectection to air spade, cabling, bracing, tomo's, risisto's all sorts. It took over four years to complete. manuals were written, and a very good time had by all. each time I was flown in from Europe I was well compensated for my time and product.
I have no desire to "break" the US market I've had my fun.

The thing is Guy. My product solves a very specific problem in the Lightning protection bussines, and unlike the your drives it is expensive.
So genius, tell me why some one like your self and many others that dont get it, would spend the aditional money on a product to solve a problem they dont even believe exists!!!

And on top of that, you think I should share my technical advantage. Why on earth would I do that. Whats the point in developing a technical advantage and sharing it with the market!!

Ha and then if I did you would use my product to secure your feeble down conductor to trees, and I'll take no part in that.
